Cushing’s Disease

Cushing’s disease is the result of greater than normal secretion of cortisol.

Symptoms of Cushing’s disease are usually seen in older dogs.  Signs include:  increased drinking and urination accompanied by a ravenous appetite and hair loss.

In order to treat Cushing’s disease, a physical exam is performed along with a baseline blood panel.  Depending upon the results, another specialized blood test may be performed to confirm Cushing’s disease.   The doctor will discuss options with you once the tests have been completed.
