Acute Pet Pain
Acute pain in pets comes on suddenly, can be severe, but lasts only up to 30 days. This may be caused by trauma, disease or surgery. Acute pain is managed by multi-modal pain management, which is using multiple drugs that target several different pain pathways to reduce the amount of pain. Before your pet has surgery, we preemptively treat them with various drugs to start treating the pain before it occurs. Studies have shown that if you have anti-inflammatory and other pain management drugs on board before you begin the procedure, the patient will wake-up with lower levels of pain from their surgery.
