FAQs

Q: Does AWVH see exotics or birds?

A: Yes, in addition to dogs and cats, we see birds, reptiles, and amphibians as well as pocket pets (guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, ferrets, hedgehogs, and gerbils) and rabbits.

Q: Can you give me a price quote for a surgical procedure or a dental procedure?

A: We cannot stress enough the importance of a veterinarian looking at your pet before any estimate is given because there are so many variables that can play a factor in it.

Q: Do you accept payments?

A: No, but we gladly accept:  Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Care Credit along with cash or personal checks.  If your check is returned, there is a $25.00 return check fee plus the amount of the check.

Q: What over-the-counter diets do you recommend?

A: Pro Plan, Iams, Nutramax and Science Diet

Q: Can you perform an orthopedic surgery?

A: No, we would refer you to the appropriate specialist.

Q: Do you offer a vaccine clinic?

A: No, we schedule annual exams and vaccines for your pet to ensure they are in proper health before vaccinating.

Q: How much notice do I need to give for a prescription refill?

A: We would prefer a 24-hour notice for all prescription refills.  If your pet has a special-order medication, we recommend roughly a 1-week notice.

Q: If I have a complaint or concern, whom may I contact?

A: Lea Ann is our hospital manager, and she is here to listen and to take any questions or concerns that you may bring.  We appreciate any feedback that clients are willing to give us.  You may contact Lea Ann at 303-467-0345 or lmccaslin@awvh.com.  Please allow 48 hours for a response.

Q: Can I contact the doctors via email?

A: Yes, Please be advised that the doctors do not check their emails on a regular day-to-day basis unless they are notified.  So if you wish to email the doctor, it would not hurt to call and leave messages stating that you did send an email.
